He graduated from Chariton High School in 1979 and  from Mid-America Nazarene University, with BA in business in 1983.  After Dennis graduated college, he continued  his education the rest of his life by taking classes and reading.

On June 27, 1998, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Sue Bolt in Mission, Kansas. Dennis and his wife lived  in  Kansas and Tennessee.  He  worked for the IRS for twenty-two years as an accountant.

Dennis loved to travel with his wife and experience different cultures.  He welcomed diversity and has  lifelong friendships across the globe.  His interests spanned from their everyday  life to their history and government.  He loved politics.

Dennis stressed the importance of an education to his nieces and nephews.  He would send books to them with hidden messages.  The messages would instruct them to call him at certain points in the books.  Not only would he know if they had actually read the book,  but he would reward them for doing so.

In the second grade, he wrote a story about how he couldn’t hear the news because his sisters wouldn’t be quiet.  When he was about the age of 12, He wrote a letter to the editor, unbeknownst to his parents, until after it was read on TV.  It was in reply to someone that had been complaining about their neighbors.  He wrote “ in order to have a good neighbor, you have to be one.”

For the uncommon holidays such as St. Patrick Day he celebrated by hosting dinner parties.  Dennis like to spend time with family.

Dennis had a great love for his wife, family and his pets, George the cat, Angel the dog. He has always took time for his family and friends as they were very important to him.

He is survived by wife Marilyn S.
