Dennis Lee Tebbe, 76, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2019 at Vitas Hospice Healthcare after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Patricia, his son, Paul of Melbourne and daughter Leanne Proffitt (Michael) of Alpharetta, Ga., and six grandchildren: Krystal Williams (Thomas), Lauren and Brandon Tebbe and Aiden, Lucas and Emersyn Proffitt. He will also be missed by his four-legged companion, Riley, a brother Terry also survives.
Born on October 21, 1942, in St. Louis. Mo, he was the oldest son of Harry and Marie Tebbe (deceased). He attended the University of Missouri where he received a Bachelors and Masters degree in Electrical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Statistics. After a stint as an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at MU he went to work in industry doing research. In 1982 the family moved to Melbourne. He was a Senior Principal Engineer at Harris Corporation for 25 years retiring in 2008. He loved doing research and received many patent awards for his work.
He loved books, was a voracious reader and was knowledgeable about many subjects. He also enjoyed playing the drums. He and Pat liked to dance and were world travelers.
Although he had a brilliant mind, he will be most remembered as a quiet, unassuming, honest, gentle, loving and kind family man. He was liked by everyone who knew him.
The family wishes to thank the many people who helped them on his journey– especially his special caregivers, Cindy and Reba, the wonderful staff at Joe’s Club and the loving nurses and support staff at Vitas Hospice.
