Dennis Lee Miller, son of Elden and Berniece Schott Miller, was born June 1, 1944, in Pocahontas, Iowa.
He was raised and attended school in Gilmore City, Iowa, graduating from Gilmore City High School in 1963. Dennis enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country for four years. He was united in marriage with Peggy Peltz on June 1, 1968, at the Methodist Church in Bradgate, Iowa. The couple made their home in Gilmore City where they raised their family. Dennis was employed by the City of Gilmore City. Throughout the years he worked in various capacities, including as law enforcement and superintendent until his retirement in 2003. Dennis also served as Mayor of Gilmore City. Dennis and Peggy enjoyed vacation time at Twin Lakes in northwest Iowa and taking cruises on the Caribbean Ocean.
Dennis died Sunday, October 21, 2018, at his home in Gilmore City. Survivors include his sons Chad (Alyson) Miller, San Antonio, TX, and Todd (Colette) Miller, Cedar Rapids, IA; grandchildren Cassandra, Christopher (Krista), Jessalyn, Anyka, and Frazier; great-grandchild Quinnlynn; brothers Jerry and Ron Miller and sisters Carolyn Maher and Barbara Eekoff. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Peggy in 2017.
