He was a lifelong resident of this area He was a lifelong farmer in Markleville and also drove a semi for BFL, Inc. for the past 15 yrs. He was a member of Markleville United Methodist Church and the Redmans Lodge in Anderson
He is survived by his wife, whom he married February 15, 1962, Dixie Martin Shaffer of Markleville, his mother, Nettie Sparks Shaffer of Anderson, two daughters, Lynn, husband, Earl Ewart of Markleville and Denise Shaffer of Markleville, a sister, Linda husband, Jerry Ringvelski of Anderson, four grandchildren, Brandi Ewart, Amanda Ewart, Ashley Coomer & Jordan Ewart all of Markleville, along with several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Doozie. He was preceded by his father, Wallace Shaffer, who died in November of 1973 .
