Dennis Shelton found rest in the Arms of the Lord on November 19th, 2020 after 59 years of faithful service to his God, his family, and his friends. His life made an immediate, positive impact on all who were lucky to know and love him. A generous soul, Dennis was loved by everyone, and he willingly helped those in need. He served his community and changed the lives of countless young people for over 30 years as a coach and umpire, and was the loudest cheerleader for all of his sons’ sports endeavors. Dennis had a charming sense of humor, and enjoyed pulling pranks and telling corny jokes to anyone who would listen. He enjoyed golfing with a close group of friends, often joyfully losing by large margins. His family was his pride and joy, and his grandchildren knew him as “Big D.” He is immeasurably loved by countless members of the community, many of whom Dennis gave their first jobs at Harco, Rite Aid, Academy, and Tuesday was a member of Northport Church of God where he faithfully served as a talented member of the praise and worship team. Additionally, he served on the event staff for the University of Alabama Football was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Martha Shelton, and his brother, Randall Shelton.Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Donna Leonard Shelton, who cherished 34 years of marriage, three incredible sons, Carson Dennis and wife Rebecca Shelton, Connor Allen Shelton, and Carter Joseph and wife Victoria Shelton, brother Mitch and wife Carol Shelton, grandchildren Aubrey Jade Shelton, Annora Jude Shelton, and Haiden Carter Shelton, nieces and nephews he loved as his own children, and great nieces and great nephews he spoiled like his own grandchildren.
