Mr. Dennis Eugene Peete, 63, of Elkhart, passed away at Elkhart General Hospital on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at 12:48 am from complications following a positive coronavirus diagnosis. He was born in Covington TN on June 12, 1957 and was the son of the late Wilbert Peete, Sr. and Aizemore (Wilbourne) Peete of Elkhart.
Also surviving are his children Dennis Bailey of Milwaukee, WI, Jathon Allen of Elkhart, Jada Peete of Bloomington and Kawanna and Maryann Bailey, both of Milwaukee; brothers Wilbert (Lejene) Peete, Jr. of Elkhart and Jeffrey (Cindy) Peete of Colorado Springs, CO; sisters Lee Thelma Hunt and Kathy (Johnny) Tilson, both of Elkhart; grandchildren Carisma Jones, Keshawna Harris, Katodghea Franklin, Jacquis, Kyara and Karter Griffin, Dayvion, Devion and Dayja Graham, Miesha and Tatyana Bailey, and Latajah Clark; and 6 great grandchildren. Additionally, Dennis is survived by his significant other Felicia Butler; as well as a host of loving extended family and close friends.
Canaan Baptist Church, 933 Fieldhouse Ave., Elkhart, will host Dennis’ Homegoing services, officiated by the Reverend Michael Carpenter, on Friday, July 10, 2020 at 2:00 pm, with public viewing beginning at 1 pm. Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart will see to it that cremation follows Dennis’ services.
Dennis had worked as a forklift operator at KIK Custom Products of Elkhart until his health had required his early retirement. In his free time, he enjoyed watching old westerns and spending time with his family and the grands. He was also known for his amazing talent with a backyard BBQ grill.
