Longtime Canon City resident Dennis Dilley, age 83, ascended into the ABHA Kingdom on June 10. Dennis and his wife, moved to Canon City from northern California in 1976 to assist in the formation of first Local Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’ is of Canon City. Dennis was employed at Western Forge until the plant closed in 1984, then he and his wife opened Dilley’s Gifts and Canon Woodshop which was located on the corner of 5th and Royal Gorge Boulevard. Mr. Dilley was a member of the Baha’i Community, the Greenwood Camp of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, and the Eagle Lodge #2123. He was a board member of the Dinosaur Depot Museum and a longtime volunteer. He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Wilma Dilley of Oroville, CA; his wife Joan (Bates) Dilley, sons; Lawrence and Glenn; and grandson, James. He is survived by 3 daughters, Ailene (George) Conklin of Sacorro, NM, Denise (Mike) Martin of Pine Bluff, NC, and Janis (Steve) Worrell of Titusville, FL; son, James (Evette) Dilley of San Jose, CA; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Dennis is also survived by his life partner Ruth Hyatt who shared his life for the last 8 years.
