Dennis C. Rath passed away at home on March 15, 2015 after a lengthy battle with brain cancer.
He was born September 16, 1945 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Dennis moved to Boise Idaho in 1982 and to Meridian Idaho two years later. He joined the U.S. Army in 1964 serving in the Reserves in Wisconsin and the Idaho National Guard in Idaho for over 30 years.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Joann of 31 years, his daughter Jeanine Turner and her husband David Turner of St. Paul Minnesota, son Chatz Rath and his wife Jennifer of San Angelo Texas, son Sid Fitzpatrick of Boise, two grandsons Devon Turner and Hadyn Turner both of St. Paul Minnesota, a brother Jim Rath and wife Gerrie also of Eau Claire Wisconsin and a sister-in-law Wanda Butler and her husband George of Katy Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents Willard and Elda Rath.
Dennis loved to hunt, fish and practice his shooting skills but was happiest riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles, a 1976 Shovelhead and a 1947 Knucklehead. He was active in the WBBA, Wisconsin Better Bikers Association and worked to help repeal the mandatory helmet law in Wisconsin in the mid ’70’s. Dennis was one of the original 10 founding members of the Free Riders Motorcycle Club Inc. in 1976. He was a member of ABATE, AMA and other such organizations.
Dennis is described by many as a strong, quiet man who would and did do anything for his family, friends, those he knew and those he didn’t. He considered raising his kids as one of the most important things in his life that took great thought and love. He especially enjoyed the time he spent watching his grandsons Devon and Hadyn grow-up and attended almost every school, Sport and other events while they lived in Idaho. He was so proud of the accomplishments they already had as well as those he knew they would have in the future.
Joann was the love of his life as he was Joann’s. Her heart is broken and cannot be fixed. The world lost a great man when Dennis passed. He will be missed and never forgotten.
