Mr. Andersen died at his home Monday, March 18, 2013.
Dennis was born on September 10, 1951, in Greeley, NE, the son of Dean and Margaret Andersen. Dennis graduated from Neligh High School in 1970.
He honorably served his country in the US Army in the United Nations Honor Guard from 1970 to 1972.
On May 11, 1973, Dennis married Lois June Bonge. The couple made their home in Neligh until moving to Madison in 1977.
Dennis was employed by Walnut Grove in Norfolk for many years. Later, he worked at the Humphrey Coop. Following his retirement, Dennis worked for several businesses in Madison on as needed basis.
He was a member of American Legion Post 35 and VFW Post 5763. Dennis enjoyed serving in the Honor Guard F Troop conducting military rites.
Dennis had two passions—first for his three girls and his grandchildren; the second was his lifelong commitment to his country. He was always eager to help others. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and hunting. Dennis was an avid fan of the Huskers and high school wrestling.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 39 years; their two daughters, Lisa Camplin, of Bellevue, Jim Gill and Jon Campin and daughter Drs. Kari and Shawn Wade, of Lincoln; his grandchildren—Kyle Camplin, Paul Reynosa, Keira Wade and Ian Wade; his brothers and sisters—Dave and Barb Andersen, Norfolk, Dana and Karen Andersen, Albion and Nancy and Gene Coakley, Kearney; 14 nieces and nephews; his step mother, June Andersen, of Neligh.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
