Dennis Allen Yost was born January 31, 1948 in Sterling, Colorado to Henry Allen Yost and Lois (Miller) Yost. He graduated from Sterling High School in 1966 and from the University of Northern Colorado with a Business Degree. In 1970, he went to work with his dad for Yost Construction and ran the company until he closed it in 2018 and retired.

He married DeAnne (Goddard) Yost in 1968 and they resided in Sterling until they moved to Texas in 2020 to escape the cold winters. They had two daughters, Michelle and Dana, that they hauled to countless horse shows. He was a member of and director for the High Plains Paint Horse Club for many years and a member of the American Paint Horse Association.

He was a lifelong supporter of the Logan County Fair as he volunteered for and contributed to the horse shows, livestock shows, livestock auctions, kids’ rodeos, and the PRCA rodeos. Dennis loved his horses and anything horse related, especially paint horses. He was an avid team roper and was a member of the United States Team Roping Championship Association. Additionally, he was a huge fan of the National Western Stock Show and attended the event for 57 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents Allen and Lois Miller Yost and Fern Yost.

Dennis is survived by his wife, DeAnne, two daughters Michelle Henry (Billy), Dana Dunkerson (Bob), and four grandchildren, Shelby and Brayden Henry and Bode and Cade Dunkerson.
