Mortimer. Preceding her in death are her parents; stepfather, Robert C. Mortimer; stepmother, Lois Swaim; and two nieces, Kristen and Kara Swaim.

Swaim of Indianapolis, IN; sister, Jo-Ann (David) Paulson of Elkhart, IN; nephews and nieces, Lauren Swaim of Los Angeles, CA, Andrew (Kennya) Swaim of Seattle, WA, Christopher Swaim of Bellevue, NE, Megan Swaim of Brownsburg, IN, Gabrielle Schleining of Carmel, IN, and Maxwell Schleining of Elkhart, IN.
For someone who wasn’t expected to live 6 minutes, then 6 months, then 6 years, she surprised us all by living more than 6 decades. She graduated from Horizon Learning Center in 1977. Denise participated in Elkhart County Special Olympics (track & field and basketball). She worked at ADEC for more than 20 years. Neeser was an avid Notre Dame fan, she cheered on the Fighting Irish whenever she could.
She loved being with family. She was very observant and often helped us find lost items. Denise helped her sister, Jo-Ann, take care of her niece, Gaby, and nephew, Max, when they were little. She had a phenomenal memory and never forgot anyone she met. She lived all of her life with her mother, who doted on her and took very good care of her. Her mother coincidentally passed away on October 11, 2020. We nicknamed her “Boogerbutt” because she had an ornery side that you couldn’t help but love. She enjoyed putting together puzzles and coloring in adult coloring books as well as people-watching at Concord Mall and Walmart.
