Dena Louise Montgomery, 58, of Belton.

Dena died Sunday April 4, 2021 in Temple. She was born October 18, 1962 in Houston, TX to Elton and Helen (White) Self. Dena worked as a hairstylist from 1987-2021, and most remembered as the Owner of Dena’s Hair Studio in Belton, TX, which she founded in 1989 with the help of Richard Murray and her beloved friends Frank and Vickie Smith.

Dena held a vivacious sense of humor, infectious laugh, and an open ear to all that knew and confided in her. She was remembered for her big hair, beauty, and giving heart, which she often wore upon her sleeve if she had not already given the shirt off of her back. She was a lover of cooking for her family, the sunsets and shorelines of Texas, and the secrets and stories she shared with her clients. Her belief in her God never went unnoticed, nor did the pride and adoration she felt for her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by Mother Helen Joyce White and Father Elton Self.

She is survived by her son, Jerimy Murray and wife Shiela of Chappell Hill, TN; two daughters, Jesse Bowles and husband Dylan of Jonesboro, TX, and Jenna Clawson and husband Bill of Owl Creek, Texas; four sisters, Tina Jackson of Shephard, Texas, Rena Johnston of Hemphill, TX, LeAnn Formeller of Conroe, TX, and Cindy Congleton of DeRidder, TX; a brother, Andrew Smith of New Caney, Texas, and 5 grandchildren, Lydia Salvatierra of Stephenville, TX, Krystian Murray of Denton, TX, Bonnie Clawson of Owl Creek, TX, and Bront and Gracyn Bowles of Jonesboro, TX.
