Deloris Dukeman passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Sandstone Health Care Center in Sandstone at the age of 102.
Deloris Victoria Workman was born October 30, 1920 to Isaac (Ike) and LuLu (Reynolds) Workman in Sandstone, Minnesota. She was the seventh child in the family of 4 boys and 7 girls; the last remaining child of Ike and LuLu Workman. Deloris was raised in Sandstone where she attended school. After finishing school, she moved to Minneapolis where she met Chester Dukeman.
April 21, 1938, Chester and Deloris were married in Minneapolis. To this union 4 daughters were born; Joyce, Judy, Julie and Joan. She worked at several places; Gedney Pickle factory, Brown & Bigelow, and Red Owl grocery store. She was employed at Red Owl for 32 years and a proud member of Amalagated Meat Cutters Union, Local 653A. She retired in 1979 due to health issues. From 1979 to 1994 Deloris and Chester spent their winters in Mission, Texas. Chestser passed away on January 23, 1994. She loved the people and would give them a hand when she could. Her many passions included cooking, music, dancing, singing, canning and crocheting. Joyce was an active member of the Fridley VFW Auxiliary for many years.
Deloris is survived by her daughters Judy Abraham of Lebanon, Tenessee, Joan (Lyle) Sikkink of Rush City; caregiver Johanna Diethelm; grandchildren Ron (Renee) Abraham, Deb (Phillipe) McCurdy, Kim (Lonnie) Halbert, Jeannie (Scott) Benson, Jacqueline (Mark) Charpentier, Bobby Noyes, Edward Noyes; many great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ike and Lulu Workman; husband Chester Dukeman; infant daughter Julie; daughter Joyce Dukeman; granddaughter Alyssa; 10 siblings; friend Ray Walsten; son-in-law Eugene Abraham; granddaughter-in-law Charlotte Noyes.
