Deloris J. (Curly) Kant, 84, of Freeport, died Sunday, January 19, 2014, at Stephenson Nursing Center. She was born on January 4, 1930, in rural Pearl City, the daughter of Lawrence and S. Helen (Altenbern) Buss.
Deloris married Lawrence Kant on March 29, 1953, at First Lutheran Church in Freeport and he preceded her in death in 2001. She was a 1947 graduate of Freeport High School, worked for Freeport Insurance Co. as a stenographer, and was a lifetime member of First Lutheran Church having served on various committees. She enjoyed working alongside her husband on the family farm cherishing country life. She also enjoyed the church, school, and athletic activities of her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Julie (Dan) Danielowski of Byron, Lenna Paytas of CA, and Melody Schulz of Dakota; grandchildren Megan (Mike) Reading of Blanchardville, WI, Riley (Brandy) O’Grady of Normal, Melissa O’Grady of NV, Kate (Mark) Cuccaro, Benjamin Danielowski both of NY, Jasmine Danielowski of Mount Morris, Jovana Danielowski of Dixon, Joe Danielowski of Sycamore, Jarmanda Danielowski of Oregon, Jaminique Danielowski of Byron, Nick Paytas, Trisha Paytas, Kalli Metz all of CA, Andrew Schulz, Amanda Schulz both of Rockford; great-grandchildren Sam, Jayln, MiYanni, Arianna, Tiarra, Coda, Christian, Devin, Noah, and Robert; many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, sister Eloise, and brothers Ervin and Charles. Deloris’s family would like to thank the staff at the Stephenson Nursing Center for the wonderful care she received.
