LAKELAND – DeLores F. ‘DEE’ Hayward, 85, sassy, spirited, full of spunk and dedicated ice cream lover was called home to the Lord on November 15, 2014. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela of Frisco, Texas; her son, Mark and daughter-in-law, Debby of DeLand, Florida, and older sister, Verna of Toledo, Ohio. Her husband, George of 45 years, predeceased her in 1995. Dee, as she was fondly known by, was born in 1929, in Toledo, Ohio, and moved to Ft. Pierce, Florida, in the early 1950s and remained in Florida until 2009, when she relocated to Texas to live with her daughter. After working part time for years while her children were growing up and going to school, Dee went back to school and graduated with her Associates of Arts degree in 1995, from Polk Community College. She was very proud of having achieved that goal late in life. She enjoyed sewing, reading and could spend hours putting together jigsaw puzzles.
