Delores Belva Segner Vogel of Anderson, died peacefully January 14, 2006, after a couragous four-year battle with ovarian cancer, at the age of 69. The eldest daughter of John and Gertrude ‘Mae’ Douglas Segner,

Delores was born February 18, 1936, in St. Louis, Missouri. She married ?the love of her life,? Wayne Vogel, in 1959. Delores valued education and, together with Wayne, raised and college-educated their three children. She and Wayne both retired from Guide Lamp Division of General Motors in 1992. Soon after, they opened Worldwide Gifts in Meadowbrook. When grandson, Jacob Wayne Blum, arrived in 1999, both were thrilled. Jacob’s adorable sister, Reissen Elizabeth Blum, arrived in 2001. Both grandchildren enjoyed Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day with Mamaw and Papaw.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Richard and Johnny Segner; and sister, Kathryn Segner.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Wayne A. Vogel of Anderson; son, Wayne Elena Vogel of Cicero; daughter, Maria Blum of Lafayette; daughter, Denise Greg Wadsworth of Sierra Madre, California; sister, Rita Rundquist of Lapel; sister, Laura Mike Ehle of Anderson; and two grandchildren. To her children, Mom was a God-loving, brave, fun-loving thankful and intelligent woman. She knew no stranger. Mom traveled with us, lunched monthly with her sisters and the ‘Guide Girls’ and attended Red Hat events in her retirement years. Preferring dessert first, she was an absolute optimist who wore big-framed glasses, was a great dancer and decorator and laughed out loud. She would ‘put on a happy face’ and was known to tell us, ‘Do-Dah-Do: You’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do’ and’ DYB: Do your best!? She did both masterfully.
