Delores A. Stewart known to hometown friends as “Ann”, 82 of Bloomington, passed away on January 5, 2020, at Hearthstone Health Campus Bloomington. Delores was born February 10, 1937, in Orleans, Indiana to the late Glenn and Ruby (Wells) Simmons.
Delores was a member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church. She attended Indiana University where she earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Elementary Education. She had a fulfilling career teaching second grade at Childs Elementary School where she retired. Long after her career was over, Delores often spoke about the many pupils she taught. Delores loved each and every student.
Delores loved good food and socializing with friends. She never knew a stranger and had a wonderful smile that could light up a room.
Survivors include her daughter Sheri Stewart Potasnik and her husband Todd of Noblesville, daughter-in-law Margaret “Peggy” Stewart of Lynn Haven, Florida; grandchildren, Brian (Hannah) Stewart, Matthew Potasnik (Sarah), and Raeann Potasnik-Sanders (Vann), a great-grandson Hank Potasnik and great-granddaughter Katherine Potasnik.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 49 years Dr. Drew S. Stewart, and brother Donald Wells Simmons.
