Due to her family situation, she was unable to finish high school, but in her mid-thirties she received her GED and started her journey toward her life-long desire to be a teacher. She later earned her college diploma and became an elementary school teacher. Deloras taught in the Jefferson County Public School system for 20+ years; hundreds of kids benefited from her wonderful ability to teach youngsters how to read and write. In 1951, Deloras married Ron Bott, the love of her life. Once he graduated college and got a teaching job in Denver Public Schools they began in earnest to build a family. Together they built two homes in Arvada, Colorado, the second of which she lived in for over 50 years until her passing. Ron passed away in 1991. Deloras is a long-standing member of St.
