Delois Jean Burgener, 80, died July 15, 2021, at her Fairmount residence.

Delois was born at home on June 24, 1941, in Bethel, Ohio, daughter of the late Orbin and Delphia (Johnson) Williams. She graduated from Bethel High School in 1959 and married William Burgener.

He preceded her in death. Delois lived in Ohio, Illinois, and Indiana throughout her life. She was a devout Catholic and a very loving, caring, and calm woman who took life as it came and never seemed to be upset about anything. She had a deep connection with her sister Rosetta. When they were young, they would finish each other’s sentences. They loved spending time together, especially shopping. They were known to purchase the same items even when they were not shopping together. Delois spent time as a hostess and waitress and Frische’s Big Boy Restaurants, as well as working in sales at different dress shops. She enjoyed flower gardening, crafts, and collecting angels.

Delois is survived by her sister Rosetta Hodges, of Fairmount; a niece, Cynthia Rose Shull; and 3 nephews, Dennis Ray Colyer, Ronald Scott Colyer, and Edward A. Hodges.

Delois was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Gary Burgener, and nephew, Michael Jerome Colyer.
