Della M. Gaw, 92, Anderson, died December 3, 2004, at Millers Merry Manor-Chesterfield after an extended illness. She was born March 17, 1912, in Hilham, Tennessee, and was an Anderson resident since September 1946. Della retired from the National Tile Factory.
She was a graduate of Hilham High School. She was a 58-year member of Columbus Avenue Church of Christ where she was actively involved, especially with the visitation ministry. She loved quilting, knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She loved to give the finished items to others. Her delight was in her garden and the peach cobblers she made from her peach trees. She loved people and was very interested in them and their families. She was a blessing to all those she came in contact with and never wavered in her determination and spirit.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Eddith Gaw; nine nieces and nephews, Larry Doris Gaw of Alexandria, Julene Andrew Billings of Anderson, Tom Kay Gaw of Anderson, Hilda Payne of Marion, Virginia Sauciers of Colorado, Brenda Raley of Florida, Susie Barry Gibbons of Anderson and Wanda Arnold of Anderson; several great-nieces, great-nephews, and numerous friends.
She was preceded by her parents, William & Sarah Delcenia Freeze Gaw; four brothers, Milton Gaw, Charlie Gaw, Carlie Gaw, Elmer Gaw Sr., and Lester Gaw and three nephews, James Gaw, Elmer Gaw Jr., and Kenneth Gaw.
