Della M. (Evers) Voegeli, 90 years young, passed away quietly on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, after a short illness. Born March 10, 1919 in Bethany and a former resident of Naugatuck, she has lived in Woodbury for the last 37 years. The wife of the late Louis F. Voegeli, Sr., Della was the daughter of the late Mabel (Noble) and William Evers and sister to Arlene (Evers) Bergen and the late William and Harold Evers.
Della was a strong, talented woman who loved gardening, sewing, music and most of all, dancing the polka with her late husband Lou. She was very petite, standing only 4 feet, 7 and inches tall (she was very proud of that ¾ of an inch). One of her favorite sayings was, “Good things come in small packages-and so does dynamite!” Being the mother of five children, grandmother to nineteen and great-grandmother to twelve, she had to be ‘spunky’ as her doctor, Fitzhugh Pannill, described her to be. She was shy, but greeted everyone with a smile.
