Della Charlotte Robinson, 80, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at the Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell, Montana. She was born on October 7, 1927 in Littlefork, Minnesota to Velluvius Collins and Della Ida Ella (Anderson) Poor.
She was the youngest of seven children with three brothers and three sisters. Della moved to Kalispell when she was 13 years old. When she was a junior in high school she moved to Juneau, Alaska to live with her brother Val and his family. During World War II, Della’s sister encouraged her to write to Harold V. “Huck” Robinson, a serviceman. They first met when Huck stepped off the train Christmas Eve in Whitefish after fighting in World War II. They were married in 1947 in Whitefish. They raised twin boys, Royce and Royden “Roy” Robinson. The couple devoted much time and energy to building and remodeling homes which they would live in while construction was in progress, spend a few years then move on to the next home.
Della and Huck loved to travel, camp and fish. After the children were grown and they were retired, they spent the winters in Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico for many years. Huck passed away in 1996. Della became a member of the Kalispell Senior Center in 1997, where she loved to play piano. She worked at the Ben Franklin store, B&B, Penney’s and the Red Lion throughout the years.
Della was a member of the RSVP and was also active with the Salvation Army and the Eagles. And she used to sing with the Sunshine Girls at the nursing homes and also made greeting cards.
Della was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers: Chancy, Val and Jesse Poor, and a sister: Ada Jaquith.
She is survived by two sons: Royce Robinson and wife Linda of Kalispell, MT and Royden Robinson of Yuma, AZ; a grandson: Dale Robinson; a granddaughter: Laura Davis; a great grandson: Ethan; and a great granddaughter: Amelia all of Anchorage, AK; two sisters: Viola Johnson of Harlowton, MT and Mabel Boe of Kalispell, MT; and several nieces, nephews and two sisters-in-law: Doris Poor and Alice Poor.
