Della Ann Jackson was born March 19, 1950, in Tarboro, North Carolina, to the late Albert and Mary Marshall. Della departed from this life on earth to eternal rest on Friday, November 12, 2021.

Della was the second born of seven siblings. When she turned two, the Marshall family relocated to Longworth St, in Newark, NJ., and later to South 15th Street where Della made lifelong friends. Della received her education within the Newark School system.

The Marshall family joined Bethesda Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of the late Bishop James H. Screven. Della accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her savior, at an early age and was baptized. Her father was a Deacon, and her mother was a deaconess. Della was a faithful member of the choir and enjoyed singing along with her siblings.

On February 15, 1975, Della married Ronald Jackson the love of her life. His nickname for her was “Spook.

Della was employed at First Fidelity Bank in Newark, NJ as a secretary for over 25 years. She retired from Hartz Mountain in Harrison, NJ. She re-entered the workforce because of her love for children, to work as a teacher’s aide, at St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Maplewood, NJ until its closing in 2010.

Dedicated to bringing her family together, she served on the family reunion committee for years. Della was a caretaker to all her nieces and nephews; many would argue that the male children in the family were her favorite and received “special treatment.” Her kindness and noble outlook on life made her extraordinary and unforgettable to all.

Della lived for thrift shopping with her sisters every Saturday morning, babysitting her great-nieces and nephews, and weekly shopping trips with her friends where she resided. She was known for her famous fried chicken, home fries, corn bread, and brumage. She had a heart of gold filled with love for her family and all their generations of friends. She later joined Bethlehem Judah Christian Fellowship, under the leadership Bishop Anthony Gilyard.
