Delilah Rollins Call, age 86, died on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family.
Delilah was born February 24, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois to Thorald B. Rollins and Thora Hatch Rollins. Delilah married Frank Wendell Call on August 30, 1943 in Billings, Montana. They established their first home in Ogden, Utah at the end of World War II and later moved to Perry, Utah.
Delilah is a graduate of Lovell High School in Wyoming, and received a music scholarship to the University of Wyoming. She was a gifted cake decorator who created thousands of custom cakes for wedding, birthday, and quinceanera celebrations in several western states. She was employed for 15 years at Calls Family Drive-In. A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Delilah served faithfully throughout her life. She, with her husband, Wendell, served a mission to Punxatawney, Pennsylvania.
Delilah’s greatest accomplishment, her pride, her joy, is her beautiful family. As her children reared their own families they recognized and honored her example and hands-on help by giving her the title ‘THE MOM.’ Delilah loved music, and insisted that each of her children learn to read music and play an instrument. She was a fabulous baker. Her home was always filled with the smell of freshly baked bread, cinnamon rolls, pies, and cakes. Her home was always filled with the sounds and activity of children, amplified by the addition of cousins and friends who were drawn in and treated as family. Delilah diffused tense situation with humor and her infectious laugh. She led her family through difficult times with optimism and love.
Delilah is survived by ten of her eleven children: Frank A. (Holly) Call, Larry Call, Jean (Bill) Frye, Steven (Ilene) Call, Barbara (Jim) Barvais, Carol (Steve) Kimber, Robert (DeLonie) Call, Tom (Jerilyn) Call, Duane Call, Cindy (Gary) Jeppesen; 28 grandchildren and 71.5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Marion Nielson and brother Thorald Rollins.
Delilah has been reunited with loved ones who preceded her in death: her husband, Wendell; her son, Bruce A. Call; her grandson, John Call; and her parents, one brother and two sisters.
