Delene L. Jurick went to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at her residence following a 7 year battle with uterine cancer. She was born May 20, 1942 in Clarksburg; the daughter of Pauline Amber-Lasher, of Clarksburg, and the late Homer Lasher. Delene is survived by her husband of 28 years, William “Bill” Jurick; three daughters, Tammera and David Faris of Bridgeport, Christa and Mark Grega of Mooresville, NC, Lisa Nicholson of Concord, NC; two grandchildren, John W, Cienawski and Alicia of Fairmont, Adalay MacKenzie Grega of Mooresville, NC; one great grandchild, Paxton Graeme Cienawski; two sisters, Beverly and Jim Bragg of New Smyrna, FL, Ginny Lasher of Clarksburg. With her infectious smile, quirky sense of humor “Take care, wear clean underwear”, “I’m going to crack your jack”; she was a dear and precious friend to innumerable people in the community. For many years, through her divorce care ministry and food box ministry at Simpson Creek Baptist Church, Delene touched the lives of literally hundreds of needy people going through the pain of a broken marriage and associated difficulties. Through her exceptional Christian faith, she was a true friend, constant prayer warrior, and supporter for so many. As such, she had a profound impact on the lives her family, her friends and those in need. Delene was most happy when with her family and friends. She had the ability to keep everyone in stiches for hours on end. While in the hospital she maintained her wonderful sense of humor, even though she did not feel well. With a smile on her face, she awarded most of the hospital caregivers with extra-large Hersey candy bars with almonds. She graduated in 1960 from Washington Irving High School and attended Fairmont State and WVU.
