Ms Delcina R. Sims, a native and resident of San Diego passed away on June 8, 2015 at Sharp Memorial Hospital.
Delcina Renae Sims, affectionately known as “Dotsy” by her family and friends, was born on September 29, 1964 in San Diego, California. She was the loving daughter of Alvin W. Thompson and Ramona K. Cross.
In October 1996, Dotsy united in marriage, and from that union she had a son, Francoise K. Sims, II. She worked in the insurance industry for nearly thirty years, initially working at an entry level position to becoming an Accounts Manager for several companies throughout the San Diego area.
As a vocal leader, Dotsy belonged to several professional organizations, where she served in various capacities, including a member of the Board of Directors for IBA West, San Diego Insurance for Women and President of San Diego Young Agents. She devoted her life to serving the community for which she grew up. She supported her son and his many friends with numerous ventures and activities. She was an active volunteer for the Skyline Tigers Youth Football and Spirit Association, where she served as a team Mom, Snack Bar Coordinator and Vice President. She was always the most spirited Skyline Tiger and St. Augustine adult cheerleader. She never missed a game and was always present to support her son. In her spare time, Dotsy loved jogging, traveling and shopping.
On Monday, June 8, 2015, Delcina “Dotsy” Renae Sims transitioned to eternal life. She is survived by her son, Francoise K. Sims, II; her mother, Ramona K. Cross; her father, Alvin W. Thompson; sister, Nianza D. Thompson; brothers, Tracy E. (AnnAC.) Thompson and Stacy M. Thompson; aunts, Margaret Adkins, Joanne Reel, Jackie (Mike) Greenfield, Arnetta (Wayne) Perry and Regina Cross; great aunts, Carolyn Burns and Ramona Sweptson; uncle, John Reel; niece, Tiffany D. (Floyd) North; nephews, Tracy E. Thompson, II, Tariq E. Thompson and Nigel D. Thompson; great niece, Zora North and a host of other family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
