     DelRay Betty, 71, of Jerome, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at his home.

     DelRay was born on May 30, 1948 in Wendell, Idaho the son of Delbert and Claire Betty.  He was raised and educated in Gooding, Idaho.  He later attended college at Idaho State University where he completed the Diesel Mechanic Program.

     While at school he met the love of his life, Karen Brown.  They were married on May 16, 1969 in Jerome, Idaho. 

     He worked as a Diesel Mechanic for Burk’s Tractor for years.  He was a self-taught mechanic, working to fix things since the age of 12.  There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix.  He also enjoyed inventing things during his lifetime. 

     DelRay enjoyed time with his family and camping trips with them.  He spent his life prospecting for gold, never leaving a stone unturned.  His family remembers him as the best storyteller, and they will miss the way he loved each of his family members. 

     He had a heart of gold, was admired by all, a friend to everyone and a smile that melted hearts. 

     He will be missed by his wife of 51 years – Karen; his three children – William Betty of Clinton, Utah, Jennifer Cooper of Spring Creek, Nevada, and Lisa Koompin of Twin Falls; seven grandchildren – Kari, Stacy, Holden, Kelsey, Micaela, Mathew, and Josie; and six great-grandchildren – Kaleb, Kaitlyn, McKinlee, Asher, Elisa, and Madison.
