Deirdre Ethel Kimm Fridley went home to be with God on May 14, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Muncie after a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
She was born November 6, 1926 in South Wigston, County Leicestershire, England to Charles George and Ethel Mae Farrell Kimm. She served in the English Land Army during World War II. She came to the United States in 1946 as one of the many English war brides that came here after the war. She became an American Citizen in 1956. She was always very proud of her dual citizenship. Her first job was as a dance instructor for the Arthur Murray Dance Studio. She also worked at Pay Less Supermarkets, Anderson Banking Company, and was the credit manager for Anderson City Utilities, where she retired in 1995. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, and was a volunteer at St. John’s Health System. She was very artistic, winning several awards for her oil paintings and poetry. She loved to work in her flower garden, roses were her specialty. She is survived by a daughter, Andrea L. Bain Bob and a son, Robert Charles Fridley, both of Middletown; two granddaughters, Jacinda L. Brown Matthew of Las Vegas, Nevada and Melia D. Craig of Middletown; two great grandchildren, Katie and Ryan Craig of Middletown; three cousins, Bill, Eileen, and Michael Ryan of Port Marnoch, Ireland; a sister-in-law, several brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews in the Fridley family. Also surviving is a very special friend, Albert Hoffman of Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Heather Lynn Nash; and a grandson-in-law, Steve Craig.
