Debra A Burns, 53, passed away on September 7th after a hard-fought battle with lung cancer. She spent the last 14 months of her life fighting for every moment she could spend with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother Patricia and stepfather Delmar, her father Bernard, and her brothers Bernie II, and Mike. She is survived by her daughters Taylor (Anthony) Shipman, Nicole (Kyle) Williams, sister Cheryl L., sister-in-law Cathy, niece Cassidy, nephews Bernie III and Aydin, siblings Wendy, Cindy, Candy, Brandon, and Brittany, stepmother Cheryl A. The sparkle in her eyes were her grandchildren Franklyn, Mia, Kalani, Kaomi, Sofia, Kingston, and Ashton. The many, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and BFFs.
If you could count yourself lucky enough to be a friend of Debby’s, you were for life. Whether it was from her days at Buchtel High School (Class of ’87), Kent State Upward Bound, the Akron area Business Women’s Investment Club, the kids’ classmates from school when they were young, or one of the many people she knew during her 26 years at GOJO Industries, she knew how to open her heart and let you in.
We would like to thank all the many healthcare providers that took care of her during this difficult time. Her two friends, Angel and Elia were helping us with her care as we struggled through the last several months. We know Debby was thankful and we can’t begin to tell you how grateful we are.
