Deborah Lynn Marthins, 56 of Middletown, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2017 at Middlesex Hospital after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Debbie was born on May 21, 1960 to the late Sidney and Bessie (Tillbrook) Marthins. She was one of 7 children and was proud to be part of such a large but close-knit family. Debbie was a strong willed and friendly soul, showing kindness and compassion to everyone she met. She was passionate about painting, jewelry making and collecting treasures; she had the uncanny ability to see the potential beauty in everyday things. She enjoyed being surrounded by her family, especially her 8 grandchildren: Casandra (Sal), Brandy, Alexis, Anthony, Logan, Amelia, Katrina and Schuyler. She is survived by her loving children: Alicia Barton (Carl) of Cromwell, Stephen P. Barton (Jessica) of Tolland, and Desiree Barton (Richard) of Whitefield, ME and their father, Stephen M. Barton; her siblings: David Marthins (Suzanne) of Warrensburg, NY; Susan Bafumi (Peter) of Middletown; Jennifer Franklin (Joseph) of Middletown; Kevin Marthins (Jean) of Wallingford; and Sharon Marthins of Middletown; her grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she is predeceased by her sister, Pamela Marthins Glen. The family would like to thank Rachel Bafumi and the staff at Autumn Lake Healthcare and Middlesex Hospice Unit for their care and support.
