Debby Kennedy43 of Flagstaff passed away March 22, 2007.
Debby was born in Scottsdale on July 17, 1963 to Mildred and Perry Mehan. Before she was a year old, the family moved to Mesa, where she resided until she was an adult. When she was three years old, her mother died of cancer. She got another mom when her dad married Rosemary and she was adopted. Early in her life she showed an artistic talent, music, art and design. After graduating from high school she spent a year in Bible College in Mesa.
She graduated from Mt. View High School, attended ASU, and graduated from Point Loma College in San Diego. During her time at Point Loma she developed an interest in helping children, particularly children with life-difficulties, and she switched majors to Sociology-Social work. When she returned to Arizona, she entered the Police Academy, and graduated with honors.
She was a Tempe Police Officer, a 911 operator, and then transferred to Flagstaff where she also worked in 911, then for DPS as an evidence receiving processor. In 1992 she married Ron Kennedy. She loved being a mother to her children. Five years ago Debby started her battle with cancer. She came to know Jesus as her Lord and Savior at a early age, and trusted his will for her life.
Debby is survived by her Husband Ron, children Zachary and Cassandra, mother Rosemary, sister Linda, brothers Jim, Ray (Julie), Steve (Katie), Patrick (Jamie), ten nieces and nephews, grandfather Virgil McDowell, Aunt Marcia, Aunt Jean cousins, many friends and co-workers, and church family. Her brother Dan and Father Perry and mother Millie are waiting for her in heaven.
The family especially wishes to thank Northland Hospice for their tender ministries to Debby and the family during these difficult times, and her caregiver, Rose and also her friend Liz, we could not have managed without any one of you.
