Deborah J. Vaughn, of McCordsville, passed away Wednesday September 17, 2014 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.

She was born on March 12, 1952 in Anderson to the late Edgar L. and Vonda E. (Whiteside) Bainter. Debbie was a 1970 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and retired from American United Life in 2011 after 41 years of service. She was an active member of Fortville Christian Church, serving at the Welcome Desk, as a fellowship meal and food pantry volunteer, and as secretary of the Women’s Group. She also volunteered for the Greenfield Soup Kitchen, the Mini-Marathon, Bastille Day and was a representative for the Employees Association.

She is survived by her husband Carmel Vaughn, whom she married on September 4, 1971; sisters Linda (James) Bainter Yager, Janice Bainter Threet, and Judy (Carl) Bainter Hickle; brother Donald G. (Karen) Whiteside; cousins Vicki J. (John) Sharp and Barbara J. (Byford) Borgman; brother-in-law Carl Vaughn; sister-in-law Mildred Vaughn; aunts Katherine Whiteside Allen, Ruth Emma Whiteside and Alberta Whiteside Gardner; and uncle Charles Whiteside.

She was preceded in death by brother-in-law Robert H. Threet.
