Deborah “Debbie” Ann Escudero was a caring wife, mother, sister, daughter, cousin and friend. She said goodbye to this world on October 9, 2021, at age 65.
She was born to Robert and Antoinette Gross on August 10, 1956, in the Cleveland, Ohio, area and was sister to Linda and Bobby. She lived in Scottsdale, Arizona, for most of her life.
A graduate of Gerard Catholic High School in Phoenix, Debbie was a great friend and had several friendships that lasted 50+ years. She graduated with a criminal justice degree from Arizona State University. She built a successful decades-long career as a real estate agent selling residential homes in the Valley.
She and her husband Jose supported her son Anthony “Tony” and daughter Nicole “Nicki” Escudero by sending them to Catholic school, cheering them on at sports games, volunteering at school activities and putting them through activities like piano lessons and Tae Kwon Do.
Debbie was known for her enthusiasm and sense of humor, always making those in her company laugh. She enjoyed playing cards with her family. An avid music lover, Debbie’s two favorite songs were “That’s Life,” by Frank Sinatra, and “Smile,” by Charlie Chaplin.
Debbie was a devoted animal lover. She had many small rescue dogs throughout her life, including Canela, Cookie, Candy and Cupcake. Plus, she also took care of turtles, fish, birds and guinea pigs. Debbie frequently volunteered to bring her kids’ class hamster home for the weekends.
Two days before she passed, Debbie sent a photo that said: “I’ve hardly done anything on my Bucket List. Just change the ‘B’ to an ‘F’ and you’ll feel much better about it.” Her sense of humor endures, as she said she’ll come back as a ghost to let you know they’re real.
Debbie’s spirit will live on in her generosity, her love of laughter and her deep love for her family and friends.
