Debbie (James) Corner, also known as Deb and Debs, was born on September 5, 1956, in Washington D.C. A Colorado resident for nearly 50 years, Debbie left her body on October 8, 2022, in Golden Colorado. Four years ago, Debbie was diagnosed with mid-stage Posterior Cortical Atrophy that advanced and was accompanied by Lewy Body Dementia.
Debbie attended the Community College of Denver in the 1970s and received a certificate in early childhood education (ECE). She attended again in the late 2000s for additional coursework, excited to expand her knowledge and practice in ECE. From around the age of 18 years old until early 2018, Debbie worked as a preschool teacher, serving hundreds of children. Debbie took immense pride in providing enjoyable learning experiences for the young children she taught and supporting their families. For a handful of years, Debbie also worked as a King Soopers cashier, where she memorized every produce code (and could still recall them years later) and found joy in connecting with customers. Something notable across Debbie’s professional experiences was her ease and comfort in helping those in need of some extra help. Whether it was dedicating individualized attention and support to a child with behavioral needs, or tailoring training to help a fellow courtesy clerk with a developmental disability become a cashier, Debbie was there.
Debbie would say that her greatest accomplishment was her two children, David (son) and Tracie (daughter). It was always her wish that they would be happy and healthy. Above all else, she adored being a mom and was so happy to be an oma (grandma).
Debbie is survived by David and his wife, Daniela, and their two children, Dante and Dahlia, Tracie and her husband, Cole, and Debbie’s brother’s, Bob, Chuck, and Dave. Debbie is predeceased by her parents, John and Nancy, and her brother Mike.
