Dean Mitchell Fuentes, beloved husband, father, and son, of Boerne, Texas passed away on May 9, 2022 at the age of 67. Dean was born October 10, 1954 to David and Yvonne Fuentes in Dallas, Texas. From an early age, Dean was fiercely loyal, the best protector, and one of the hardest workers you would ever come across. Those traits would continue throughout his entire life, and shape him into the incredible man he was.

In 1980, while living and working in Houston, Dean met his perfect match and soulmate, Patti. They were married on March 19, 1983 and a lifetime of adventures began. After starting their married life and welcoming their two children in Houston they made the decision to move out of the big city. Over the years and many motorcycle rides, Dean had fallen in love with the Texas Hill Country and after some time in Blanco, the family made Boerne their forever home in the early 1990s.

Dean’s interests were vast and varied. As a teenager, he worked at the Mexican restaurants his father managed in Houston. His time in the restaurants molded him into a fantastic self-taught home cook and he perfected everything from brisket and refried beans to the spiciest salsa and sauces. Dean also had a passion for cars, motorcycles, and all things mechanical. During his 20s he took up motorcycle drag racing and hot-rodding, which helped develop his impressive shade-tree mechanic skills. He had an immense love of music and could be found in the front row at rock concerts in his younger years or listening to those classic rock songs on long drives later in life. Dean was an avid outdoorsman and thoroughly enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting with family and friends, or happily on his own.

Dean was an extremely hard worker, dedicated and determined to provide for his family and give them the life he knew they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world and he was unendingly proud of his children. Dean was a strong, kind, loving, and supportive father. He was his family’s constant cheerleader on the sidelines or in the audience during any activity that they were involved in.

For the last five years, Dean battled cancer with the most amazing grace, bravery, and strength. He lived everyday with positivity and determination not to let the disease keep him from doing the things he loved – listening to music, working on cars, cooking his favorite meals, and enjoying time with family, friends, and their yellow lab, Sunshine.

Dean was preceded in death by his father David Fuentes and his brother Robert “Bubba” Fuentes. He is survived by his wife, Patti; his daughter, Raquel; his son, David (wife Amber); his mother, Yvonne; his step-mother, Beckie; his twin sister, Marie; his half-brother, Chris (wife Michaelea) and numerous brother in-laws, sister in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who were his extended family. He will forever be in their hearts and will continue to inspire them in their individual and collective endeavors.
