Dean LaMont Corbridge of Boise graduated from this earthly life on November 5, 2008. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. He will long be remembered as a “Good Guy”.
Dean was born October 14, 1923 in Wellsville, Utah to Elwood and Sarah Corbridge. He grew up in Smithfield, Utah, graduating from North Cache High School in 1941. He joined the Navy in October of that year to see the world but soon found himself in WWII. He was a radio operator and served on four different ships in the Pacific.
When the Korean War ended, Dean moved his young family back to Boise and resumed his career in the insurance business. For many years he was the Life Manager for the United Pacific Life Insurance Company.
In 1986 Dean retired and after a few years moved back to Boise. He loved to fish, hunt, and train dogs. He was also a great sports fan of football, basketball, and track. He especially kept close tabs on Boise State and the Seattle Sea Hawks.
He loved to talk to people and had a way of making them feel uplifted and easing their cares. He always had a joke or story to tell, from “Joe, the Barber”! He loved kids and especially loved playing games with his grandkids and great-grandkids.
Survivors include his son, Larry (Paula) of Portland, Oregon; and his daughter, Jolene (Dr. Marshall) Ogden of Boise, and Clayton, Idaho. He found great joy in his seven grandchildren, Tara and (David) Skouson, Las Vegas, NV, Darin (Marisa) Ogden, Boise, ID, Nathan (Heather) Ogden, Boise, ID, Taylor Ogden, Orem, UT, Devin (Michelle) Ogden, Boise, ID, Ty (Heather) Corbridge, Palmer, AK, and Ian Corbridge, Alexanderia, VA. A Mongolian young man, Tamir (Sarah) Ganbat, Hoffman Estates, IL, and an Indonesian young man, Shika (Alfi) Saptohoedojo, Indonesia also called him “Grandpa”. He had 12 great-grandchildren, Aiden and Seth Corbridge, Luisa, Daniel, and Katherine Skouson, Seniya, Kienna, Kannon, Kyler, Malani, Cortlyn, and Ava Ogden. Mary, Allison, and Joseph Ganbat, and Hana, Mozza, and Futah Saptohoedojo also called him “Grandpa”.
Dean is also survived by his two sisters, LaNae (Russ) Tarbet, Smithfield, Utah, and Nina (Delmar) Coleman, Ogden, Utah.
Dean was preceded in death by his father, Elwood Corbridge; his mother, Sarah Murray Corbridge; a baby brother; and his beloved wife, Shirley Corbridge, who left him in July to “Prepare a place for him” on the other side.
