Seth Franklin Andrews Jr. was born in Jesup, Georgia to the late Seth F. Andrews Sr. and Lula Bell (Tillman) Andrews on May 24, 1930. Later the family relocated to Crescent City FL during the final half of the Great Depression and in 1949 he enlisted in the US Army.  Before he went on tour overseas, he fathered a daughter named Lettie. He was shipped to France and Germany and was able to see the beauty of Europe in the wake of WWII. This time had a great impact on our father’s life. After returning home he ended his stint as active military in 1953 and did two more years in the reserves. At this time, he took a job on Fort Dix, New Jersey and reconnected with his brother James and others from Crescent City who settled in the Central New Jersey area.  One of the families that settled there was the Day family in Trenton. Sarah Ann Day was one of the oldest of 9 (7 of them being boys).

Seth and Sarah were married on October 2, 1954. They started their family a short time later welcoming four children, (Deborah, Sandra, Sherry and Steven).

In 1986 Seth and Sarah retired to Jesup Georgia, his place of birth and home to many of his descendants on both his parents’ side of the family.

While in Jesup, Mr. Andrews worked 8 years as a Warehouse Manager for King and Prince Seafood on St. Simons Island. He loved Jesup and served on the Zoning Board until 2007, helping steer the aspect of local government and policy that would impact Wayne County for decades to come. As a member and Chairman of the Wayne County School Board he was also an integral part of suggesting the need for a new High School and 2 new Middle Schools, seeing each of those projects to their fruition. He also mentored boys in the Boys to Men program.

His wife called him Charles. He was known to others that knew him as Seth, Munge, Mr. or Deacon Andrews. The most fortunate of us addressed him simply as “Dad or PopPop”

Deacon Seth Andrews was preceded in death by his parents Seth and Lula Belle Andrews. His loving wife Sarah Ann Andrews,  daughter Sandra F. Andrews, three brothers; Roosevelt Andrews, James Andrews and Charles Johnson and a great grandson Alexander Nixon and a host of close relatives.

He leaves to cherish his memory four children: Lettie Rogers of Collingswood New Jersey; Deborah A. Andrews Lara of Jesup Georgia.; Sherry L. Andrews Wilson, Jacksonville Florida and Steven F. Andrews (Amy) of Omaha Nebraska. 15 Grandchildren, 39 Great Grandchildren and 30 Great Great Grandchildren; Four Brother-In Laws: James Williams (Regina) of Jesup Georgia.
