Deacon Juan Valenzuela, Jr.

January 24, 1935 – January 6, 2021

Deacon Juan (Johnny) Valenzuela Jr. 85, of Harlingen, Texas entered into eternal rest on January 6, 2021.

He was born on January 24, 1935 in Hidalgo, Texas to parents Juan Valenzuela Sr. and Cruz G. Valenzuela. He served in the U. S Army from 1954-1959. Juan and Dora Mercado were married on July 17, 1960. They celebrated 60 beautiful years of marriage.

Juan represented the Carpenters Union for several years before starting The Valenzuela Cabinet and Construction Company until his retirement in 2015.

Juan was ordained as a Permanent Deacon in May of 1980 in which he happily served at Queen of Peace Church, Immaculate Heart of Mary and Assumption church until his retirement in 2018.

Deacon Valenzuela touched the lives of so many with his unconditional love, generosity, humble spirit and will be remembered for his God Given Calling and obedience to the Lord.

Deacon Valenzuela leaves behind spouse Dora; 5 children, Juan (Johnny) Valenzuela, Ill (daughter) Amber L. Valenzuela, Maria Lourdes (Lou) Valenzuela (sons) Justin N. and Jacob N Gonzales, Thelma V. Landeros (spouse) Jesse (son) Michael and Christy, (daughter) Samantha Landeros, Javier (spouse) Annette Valenzuela (daughter) Sophia (son) Michael, Angela B. Valenzuela, along with seven great­ grandchildren. Sister Delia (Robert) Cabriales and Brother Joe Marcos (Nena) Valenzuela and preceded in death by parents and his five sisters (Refugia, Isabel, Rosa, Margarita and Alicia).

The family would like to thank the VBMC and HMC medical staff that participated in his care.
