David William Bollhoefer, 79, of Laurel, died on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at The Willows of Marshalltown.
David, the son of Grant and Meta (Propp) Bollhoefer, was born on May 3, 1940, in rural Laurel. He graduated from Van Cleave High School in 1958.
During his years, David and his wife helped create their family business, where he enjoyed caning chairs and weaving. He also enjoyed collecting toy John Deere tractors.
David is survived by his wife, Joyce Bollhoefer of Laurel; children, Bonnie (Mark) Ohrt of Haverhill, Connie (Scott) Allen of Laurel, Jim (Dawn) Bollhoefer of Newton and Ron (Kim) Bollhoefer of Garwin; grandchildren, Casey (Joel) Faircloth, Wesley Ohrt, Ashley Allen, Candace (Dustin) Aikin, Jacob (Megan) Bollhoefer, Katie Miller, Stephanie (Luke) Beintema, Lacy Bollhoefer and Shayna (Garrett) Steele; 12 great-grandchildren and one on the way; sister, Esther Schmidt of Newton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Grace Bluck.
