David Ward Sligar Sr., 75, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 12, 2022, at his home in Cotopaxi, Colorado. 

 

He was born May 1, 1947, in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Lewis Adam and Hazel May (Ward) Sligar. The youngest of five children, David was raised in the Prairie Valley community growing up in the oil field camps in northern Seminole County, Oklahoma. He graduated from Prairie Valley High School in 1965. 

 

David joined the United States Air Force in October 1965 proudly serving his country during the Vietnam conflict, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant prior to his Honorable Discharge in 1973. David held many occupations during his life prior to his retirement in 1985.   

 

 

David is survived by the love of his life, Darlene Paxton of Canon City;  daughters, Deborah Sligar of Modesto, California, and Dawn (Tim “Doc” ) Seymour of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; sons, David Jr. (Kathy) Sligar of Colorado City, Colorado, Daniel (Kelly) Sligar of Crestview, Florida and Jonathan Sligar of Oklahoma; Darlene’s children, Linda, Gay, Pat, Tom, and Chris;  brother John Sligar of Prague, Oklahoma; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margaret; and brothers, Lewis Mack, and Roy James.
