David W. Smudde, age 61, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, June 7, 2022 in California. He was born January 18, 1961, in Geneva, the son of John and Dorothy (Dowiatt) Smudde.
David was a graduate of Geneva Community High School and Aurora University. He performed IT work at Motorola for many years.
He enjoyed volunteering at Good Templar Park where he spent time with friends helping out with whatever needed to be done. David really liked helping others. If there was a problem and he could help, David would be there.
He had special relationships with his nieces and nephews. He never lost his youthful spirit. During family events you would find David outside or on the floor playing with the children. He was always finding ways to make the kids smile and laugh and set himself up so they could tease him back.
He developed a passion for barbeque and generously shared the delicious results. In the winter he could be found in his kitchen preparing his homemade stuffed pizzas. David would then drive around to share his latest creations.
David was known for his corny jokes and funny comments. He will be remembered most for his infectious smile, his joyful approach to life, and his thoughtfulness toward others.
He is survived by his siblings Mark (Karen) Smudde of Geneva, Mary (Jim) Gorecki of Kaneville, and Paul (Nancy) Smudde of California; and many nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents.
