David W. Shoemaker, 55, of Virginia, IL died Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.
He was born January 3, 1956 in Jacksonville, IL; the son of Eddie C. and Marilyn Braner Shoemaker. He married Kathy Gallion and later married Chris Grover on May 10, 2003 in Virginia.
He is survived by his wife, Chris of Virginia; his mother and step father, Marilyn and Bill Cotton of Virginia; his son, Matthew Shoemaker (wife, Jill) of Brighton; his daughter, Andrea Shewmake (husband, Mark) of White Hall; five step children; three grandchildren, Joshua and Randi Shewmake of White Hall and Keeley Shoemaker of Brighton; nine step grandchildren; a sister, Rhonda Hodges (husband, Stephen) of Lakeville, MN; a sister-in-law, Debbie Compardo of Buffalo; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his father.
Mr. Shoemaker was a graduate of Virginia High School. He was employed at Lundia Industries in Jacksonville and more recently as a seasonal worker for the City of Virginia. He enjoyed nature, wildlife, fishing, NASCAR events, and spending time with his family and friends.
