David “Shep” Shepperd, September 27, 1959 – January 5, 2018.

On January 5th at 6:35pm Shep lost his 6.5-year battle with cancer, pain free, surrounded by loved ones.

Shep was born September 27th, 1959 to Monroe Taylor and Joan (Darden) Shepperd in Temple, Tx. He married the love of his life Debbie Butler Shepperd in May 1983.  He raised two daughters Tara and Tori, who worshiped the ground he walked on, along with four grandchildren: Rody, Ally, Tripp and Shep, who thought he hung the moon. His father Monroe Taylor precedes him in death. His beloved mother Joan, older brother Joe and little brother and best friend John survive him. He was a family man, a friend, and a man of honesty, full of knowledge and never said a negative word about anyone.

As a descendent of the Bell County Pioneers, he was a well-known cowboy, working cattle from the Fort Hood reservation to South Texas. He later established his own company, Shepco Installations, installing school furniture.  David was always willing to share his knowledge, he enjoyed teaching his grandchildren about the outdoors and even while battling cancer, he always thought of others.  Prior to his passing he organized “Vaquero Outdoors” a club in hopes to help single mothers get their kids out in the woods, hunting and fishing.

Shep was a chief hunting guide at Solana Ranch, a Star on A&Es American Hoggers and was inducted into the Bell County Ring of Honor in 2017.
