David died Saturday, March 23, 2013 at St. Josephs Rehabilitation and Care Center.

David L. Sellars was born at home in Texhoma, Oklahoma on October 22, 1934 to Richard and Madeline (Roots) Sellars. He graduated from high school in Fort Worth, Texas in 1952; from college in Wayland Baptist College in Plainview, Texas in 1957; and from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1963. He was the pastor in Adrian, Texas for five years; in Headley, Texas for three years; and in Norfolk for twenty-six years. He retired from Northern Heights Baptist Church in Norfolk on February 1st, 1997 and one week later started Pastoral Care at the Meadows and the Norfolk Veteran’s Home.

David was very active in the Norfolk Ministerial Association, the Vice President and President of the Kansas-Nebraska Baptist Convention of the Southern Baptist Association, and the President of the Norfolk Rotary Club.

David loved serving people in the name of Christ, helping them experience spiritual and person growth and seeing the evidence of God’s grace in their lives. He enjoyed playing his harmonica for senior citizens and friends.

David loved trains and enjoyed fishing, hiking trails in Colorado, golf, and riding his bicycle. He completed the Nebraska BRAN ride in 1994, at the age of fifty-nine.

In 1954, David married Doris LeFils in Fort Worth, Texas, and they were blessed with two sons, Chris and Russ. Doris passed away February, 1981.

In God’s loving plan, David met Jeanie Wolfe, who had lost her husband Warren. David and Jeanie became friends and were married on May 31, 1982.

Survivors include his wife Jeanie of Norfolk, his sons Chris of Omaha, Russ and wife Joni of Colorado Springs, CO; his brother Don of Aurora, CO.; his sister Christy of Denver; brother-in-laws Michael Miller of Cushing, Oklahoma, Jim Miller of Norfolk, and Jack Miller of Fort Collins, CO.; three stepsons, Bill Wolfe of Kansas City; Jay Wolfe and wife Sandy of Norfolk; and Patrick Wolfe of Lafayette, Colo.; twelve grandchildren: Jeremy, Gabe, Janae, Hannah, Josh, Paul, Ashley, Jade, Jordan, Taylor, Lane, and Whitney; nine great-grandchildren: Cayden, Adelaide, Elisha, Annika, Ethan, Isaiah, Cece, Knox, and Noah.

Welcoming him to heaven are his parents, Richard and Madeline Sellars, and his first wife Doris Sellars, and Chris’ wife Sheryl Sellars.
