David Shearon, 77, passed away Saturday at Litchford Falls Healthcare.

David was an active member of the Raleigh Jaycees for many years.

David was an avid sports fan.  He always had a sharp mind and could tell you team and player stats as well as who was coming through the ranks of most sports.  He was a long-time member of Raleigh Sports Club.  Anyone who knew David would tell you his blood ran Carolina Blue.  He loved all Tarheel sports but especially Carolina basketball.  He rarely missed a game.  David was also a big Atlanta Braves fan having followed the team from their roots in Boston and Milwaukee.

The family has many wonderful memories of time spent at Atlantic Beach.  There was lots of fishing, reading on the beach, swimming, and eating great food.  They also enjoyed many trips to Disney World while the children were at home.  As empty nesters, David and Margaret found a love of traveling together.  They enjoyed cruising and have been to many ports throughout the years.  Most other vacations involved seeing a game at Ballparks around the US including many spring training games in Florida.

David’s love for sports was only rivaled by the love for his family.  He was extremely proud of all his grandgirls and great grandson.  You would often find him at any of their activities from cheerleading to softball to figure skating.  He treasured his time with each of them and loved being such a big part of their lives.

David is survived by wife Margaret, son Todd (Jen) Shearon and daughter Karen (Gordon) Malmut.  Also, his granddaughters Kayla Shearon, Khloe Shearon, and Lindsay Malmut and great grandson, Wyatt Dart; his sister, Mary Ann Geiger and by his brother, Cecil (Janis) Shearon.  His passing leaves a big hole in our family but he will be forever remembered in the hearts of those that love him.
