David was born in Chicago, Illinois, to the proud parents of Jose and Ruth Rivera.
He attended Austin High School and later proceeded to take college courses at both Triton College and Wright Community College. David worked as a bus driver for the Chicago Transit Authority for 25 years, where he never met a stranger, as he transported hundreds of people safely to and from their destination daily.
David was a dependable, kind, and loving person.
David was preceded in death by his father, Antonio Jose Rivera.
David is survived by: his three children, David Rivera, Jr., Devall Rivera and Ta-Janae Rivera Buford; his loving mother, Ruth Rivera; his three brothers, Jose Rivera, Juan Rivera and Val Demuiro Rivera; one sister, Rose M. Johnson; 12 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
