David R. Callands, 81, of Waterbury, formerly of Danbury, died on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at the U. S. Veterans Hospital, West Haven, CT.
Mr. Callands was born in Gretna, VA, on March 17, 1941, a son of the late William and Lucille (Lang) Callands. He attended schools in Gretna, VA.
A resident of Danbury for the past sixty years, Mr.
He was a founding member of the Carter L. Marshall Elks Lodge of Danbury and a U. S. Army Vietnam veteran.
To cherish his memory, Mr. Callands is survived by five daughters, Tracy, Tina, Terry, Tanya, and Janell, a stepson, Reggie Carnall Andrews, a brother Orlando Callands, twenty-one grandchildren, twenty- eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Callands was predeceased by a son, David R. Callands Jr., six brothers, Theodore, Richard, Larry, Johnnie, Thelbert, and Duke, and by three sisters, Verna Mae James, Shirley Harris, and Thelma Elizabeth Callands Watson.
