David R. Anderson, 74, of Lafayette, passed away on Monday, February 28, 2022, at Aster Place after his valiant battle with cancer.  He was born September 7, 1947, in Noblesville, to the late Clarence and Betty (Burgess) Anderson.  After graduating high school at Lafayette Jeff, Dave joined the US Marines in October 1966. Dave was awarded the Purple Heart and his unit was awarded a Presidential Citation for their heroic efforts during the Vietnam War.  Dave and Melody (Crider) were wed in 1996, they cherished each day they shared worked for Rostone until its closing and then went to work for Caterpillar as a machinist for over 20 years before retiring in 2008.

Meeting new people was a real enjoyment for Dave, as he never seemed to meet a stranger. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends playing pool or cards. He was so excited when he bowled his only perfect game after years of participating in several leagues. During nice weather you would find Dave working in the yard, which may have been his favorite hobby.  Dave was a life member of both the Eagles Lodge Aerie 347 and the VFW Post 1955. He was also a longtime and active member of the American Legion Post 11.

Surviving in addition to his wife Melody is a son Adam Anderson of Colorado, two daughters, Tricia (husband Chris) McCallister of West Lafayette and Jennifer Admire, along with three stepdaughters, Donna (husband Terry) Holt of Lafayette, Tresa (husband Skip) Patterson and Bridget Smith of Frankfort, three sisters, Deena (husband Jim) Shereda of Michigan, Vicki Simmons of Lafayette, Connie (husband Willie) Hammond of Stockwell, and a brother, Larry Anderson of Colfax. Also surviving are several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
