David North II died on Sunday, September 4, of natural causes. He was 30 years old. As a teenager, David was a promising tennis player, an avid skier, an honors student and an accomplished classical pianist. As a middle schooler, David split his time between Philadelphia and Paradise Valley, attending Haverford School (outside Philadelphia) and Phoenix Country Day School. After a bout of illness, he attended prep school at Gordonstoun in Scotland, where he spent holidays and summers with his mother, Carmela Benvenuto North, in London and Paradise Valley, or with his father, Gerald North, in Monte Carlo. He was regarded as a charming, fun person by all who knew him. In his late teens, David was stricken with mental illness. It took years for him to get his illness under control but he eventually overcame it and had resumed college in Arizona. David’s grandfather, after whom he was named, was one of the pioneers of the executive search industry and briefly served in the Nixon administration. David was interested in political science.
