David Michels, 66, of Peru, died at 5:42 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2007, at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru.
Mr. Michels was born Dec. 9, 1940, in Peru, to Vincent and Jennie (Sabatini) Michels. He married Elizabeth Liz Kaznowski in 1961 at St. Peter and Paul Church in Spring Valley.
He graduated from La Salle-Peru Township High School. He was a Peru police officer for 12 years and then worked for Ladzinski Concrete Finishing Company until retiring in 2002. He was a member of St. Valentines Church, Laborers Union in Streator and Spring Creek Country Club.
He is survived by his wife of Peru; a daughter, Kathy OConnor of Buffalo, Ill.; two sons, David Wayne (Debbie) Michels of St. Peters, Mo., and Dan V. (Bobbie Jo) Michels of Peru; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a sister, Palma Pam Dean of Peru. He was preceded in death by his parents.
